Candescent is another band from Redding that we all assumed would "make it", but broke up too early, which is apparently the trend with supremely talented bands in this town. This record is amazing from start to finish. Great metalcore in the vein of Botch, Shogun and Bird of Ill Omen with a hint of the stoner-era Candescent to come. Every song on this record is awesome and you'd be missing out big time if you didn't have it in regular rotation. They recorded one more full length after this that leans heavily towards tech stoner metal, a la Baroness' "The Red Album" (but obviously earlier), but it was never mastered and never released, and it was probably one of the best records any redding band has ever done. Hopefully it'll come out one day... if not, I'll post it up here.

Totally awesome tape from 1998, I don't know how many were made but it couldn't have been many. This one was ripped by Nate Corbin. The Stones cover totally rules.

After the Fall was one of those bands that I think everyone knew was going somewhere, then they broke up. This is one of my all-time favorite releases that any Redding band ever did, totally great 90's Metalcore (before the term became what it is today). I hear a lot of Botch and early Converge here, it's too bad they didn't stay together. I got this CD at what I think was xCOx's last show, at the Zocolo in chico.
